Oscar J. Underwood, Jr., Ph.D.

                

Understanding that human potential is magnified in the presence of God, Dr. Oscar J. Underwood, Jr., a gifted and passionate pastor, teacher, author, educator, and conference speaker has been used of God to help adults and children, alike discover their true potential in Christ, that exists beyond the limitations imposed by living in a fallen world. A poor, young boy from an impoverished background, Dr. Underwood has personally witnessed the limit­ removing power of God. Out of gratitude, he runs to pass this torch to all, especially those whose destinies have been threatened by human limitations and societal dysfunction and disenfranchisement.

Dr. Oju, which in Nigeria's Yoruba language means, "The eyes of God," is, the nickname by which he is affectionately known by his congregation. He serves as the founder and senior pastor of The Destiny Dome of Cathedral of Praise, International in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the Dream Center of Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also the founder of Cornerstone Christian College Preparatory Day and High Schools, Cornerstone Christian Bible College, International, and Oju and Associates.

While serving as school principal at Ralph J. Bunche Elementary, Dr. Underwood began his ministry with about 27 people in attendance. Since that time, the ministry has experienced significant growth, not only quantitatively, but also in the quality of lifestyle, Kingdom and God-Class Excellence. The members of Cathedral of Praise are making a distinctive and indelible mark in the earth for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom.

With more than 29 years of ministerial experience, Dr. Oju passionately, compassionately, and eloquently articulates the Truth of the Word of God in simplicity and wisdom. He is anointed to use the principles of the Kingdom of God to coach human potential out of the Body of Christ so that all ambassadors can be connected to their divine purpose and assignment.   

Dr. Oju has shared the platform with some of the world's greatest teachers and motivators of human potential. Whether in worship, business, or educational settings, he has been blessed by God to see those in attendance transformed and stretched beyond the struggles that once limited their achievement and success.

The first African American Indiana Teacher of the Year and Nominee for National Teacher of the Year, Dr. Underwood matriculated and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Education and Administration from Indiana University. Further post-graduate work culminated in Ph. D's in Education, Christian Ministry, and Destiny and Human Potential Coaching. Dr. Underwood is the author of several books; he is also a recording artist.

He has received numerous national, state, and local awards and honors; including National Business Man of the year, invitation to testify before the United States Congress, and an invitation to the White House for his work in education. Thousands of children and adults, alike have been profoundly impacted by his infectious passion and ministry of dignity, excellence, empowerment, and faith. He lives and breathes the principle that all human limits can be removed in the presence of the anointing!
